About The School

Welcome to Bushidokan of Fresno

What we teach:

We teach Jujitsu as art and common sense self defense. Jujitsu traces its heritage to the Samurai on the battle field. It has recently been referred to as an art for modern times. What distinguishes

Sensei James teaching a Jujitsu pinKoKoDo Jujitsu is the gentleness of it’s techniques coupled with the sharp pain forcing compliance.

KoKoDo Jujitsu is a system which uses the body’s Keiraku (meridian system) to create varying amounts of pain to control an attacker without necessarily causing serious injury.

KoKoDo techniques usually involve Osae (arresting) or Nage/Otoshi (throwing/dropping) techniques. These may utilize Keiraku, Katame (joint locks), and/or methods of Kuzushi (off-balancing). The primary instruction is through

Kihon Waza (Basic Technique) which utilize Gensoku (principles). The KoKoDo Ju Jutsu system is based on principles not set techniques for various situations. Once a student has mastered the principle, he or she is able to develop their own Henka (variations).
